This Wednesday, October 11, it is celebrated in Seville on European Bone Marrow and Umbilical Cord Donor Day in order to pay tribute to the altruistic people who make it possible for patients with leukemia and other blood diseases to recover their health or save their lives. In the Cajasol Foundation and the Plaza de San Francisco A series of activities will be held for Bone Marrow Donor Day. Tonight the Parliament of Andalusia and the San Telmo Palace, headquarters of the Junta de Andalucía, will be illuminated in orange, a color that symbolizes bone marrow donation.
Celebration of Bone Marrow Donor Day in Seville
Seville has been designated one of the 17 Spanish venues that celebrate this commemorative day this year. The Transfusion, Tissue and Cell Center of Seville in collaboration with the Autonomous Transplant Coordination has organized 4 events on October 11: a blood, plasma and marrow marathon in the courtyard of the Cajasol Foundation, an awards ceremony for collaborators of the province, a talk-colloquium on the donation of bone marrow and hematopoietic progenitors and a show in the Plaza de San Francisco. Blood, plasma and marrow donation marathon at the Cajasol Foundation
The motto of this marathon is ‘Multiply life’ and blood, plasma and marrow donors will be served from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the courtyard of the Cajasol Foundation.
Several companies collaborate in this macro-collection and offer a special snack to donors, a snack that is required by law: Restaurante Robles, Regulatory Council of Mantecados and Polvorones de Estepa, Oleoestepa, Inés Rosales, Regañá Don Pelayo, Productos Samaniego and the solidarity ham cutter, Ángel Gonzalez. On behalf of the Atmos association, an information stand will be installed for people interested in registering in REDMO, the Spanish Network of Bone Marrow Donors. He Transfusion, Tissue and Cell Center annually awards awards to blood and marrow donation collaborators in the province of Seville. They are companies, institutions, associations or individuals that have stood out for the originality or effectiveness of special campaigns or for their long history in favor of donation. They will be 10 prizes in total: media from the capital, media from the province, social networks, municipality with the highest donation rate, most original educational campaign, etc.
The event will be held at 12:00 in the morning at the Cajasol Foundation theater and the sequence and the name of the winners will be sent on Tuesday the 12th. Access is by invitation.
Talk-colloquium on bone marrow donation and hematopoietic progenitors
The talk-colloquium will begin at 1:00 p.m. after the awards ceremony at the Cajasol Foundation theater. What are the requirements to donate blood and bone marrow?
