Season 2 of Claim to Fame brings together 12 high-profile celebrity parents hiding their identities to win a $100,000 prize, but there are plenty of clues to help figure out who they really are. Hosted by Kevin and Franklin Jonas, the reality competition series premiered last year to great acclaim. The Claim to Fame Season 1 winner was Keke Palmer’s sister, Loreal Chanel Palmer, while the runner-up was Jason Aldean’s cousin, Logan Crosby. Pepper Martin, third, was Dean Martin’s granddaughter.
Like last season, in Claim to Fame season 2 episode 1, the contestants showed up with a game of Two Truths and a Lie, during which they shared one false and two factual things about themselves. They also participated in a talent contest, which allowed them to showcase their talents and personalities. In addition to these clues, the Clue Wall is back for Season 2 of Claim to Fame. It is filled with objects that could hint at the identities of the 12 celebrities. However, some clues are totally meaningless.
12 Carly
During Episode 1 of Claim to Fame’s Two Truths and a Lie segment, Carly revealed that her famous relative was her uncle, who is a musician and Oscar winner. In her confessional, she admitted that he was one of Hollywood’s greatest actors, who had a long career since the 1980s. When the contestants first saw the Clue Wall, Carly was worried because there was a bench model that looked exactly like Forrest Gump’s. Tom Hanks’ name was mentioned by the contestants as they stared at the wall.
During the talent show, Carly went all out and sang, rapped and danced to an original song she wrote. In the lyrics, she mentioned that her famous relative has been on TV, Broadway, and magazines. She said to watch her and her talent because “it’s a free clue.” At the end of the performance, she even twerked. Chris said Carly reminded him of Jim Carrey. Gabriel thought his parent was completely fearless like her. JR predicted that Carly’s parent might be a comedian because she’s funny.
Later in the episode, Chris said in his confessional that he noticed Carly deviated when Tom Hanks was brought up. Carly told her that Tom would be too big and easy to guess. Chris then told the camera, “Tom Hanks might be too famous for this house, but not his famous relative. Hugo also noticed Carly’s reaction to Tom’s name. Because of this, when he was chosen to be the diviner, Hugo correctly guessed that she was related to Tom. Carly was revealed to be Tom Hanks’ niece. She was upset to be eliminated and shouted that her clues were too obvious.
11 Chris
Chris shared that his famous relative received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. On the talent show Claim to Fame, he revealed that singing is his main talent, which is also true of his family member, who is a singer. He added that he looks a lot like him and even sings like him. Chris sang and played the guitar very well, but Carly thought he had chosen that as his talent to throw everyone off balance. Jane said Chris’s eyes looked like John Mayer’s, and Monay agreed.
10 Cole
There weren’t many clues revealed about Cole on Claim to Fame season 2, episode 1. He shared that his famous relative is his father. For his skill, Chris spray painted a canvas with the word love.
9 Gabriel
During Two Truths and a Lie, Gabriel told his fellow contestants that his famous relative was his brother. He said he was an athlete and posed as the Heisman Trophy, which is a college football award. He also shared that his relative won an NAACP award. In Gabriel’s confessional, he said he lied about his famous relative being an athlete. He added that it was the only time in his life when nothing looked like his famous parent was going to work in his favor. During the talent show, before Gabriel rapped, he told the cameras he was excited to perform because he hadn’t done it in years.
8 Hugo
Hugo’s Two Truths and a Lie was that his famous relative is his grandfather, an athlete who won a Nobel Prize. In his confessional, he admitted to lying about being an athlete. He shared that at one time his grandfather was the most powerful man in the world. This most likely means that Hugo is the grandson of a former President of the United States. Hugo describes himself as being very intelligent. He is an engineer and studies both electrical engineering and mathematics.
For Hugo’s talent, he wanted to continue his strategy of making himself look more athletic, so people would believe his grandfather was an athlete. Therefore, he lifted weights. However, Carly immediately told the others, “He’s not an athlete. Carly and Chris thought maybe Hugo was related to Buzz Aldrin because there was an astronaut clue and a bee for Buzz. They also thought the Nobel Prize Index might be linked to Buzz.
7 Jeanne
For her two truths and a lie, Claim to Fame season 2 contestant Jane revealed that her famous relative is her father and a Grammy-winning musician. During the talent show, she played ukulele. Jane sang a song about Franklin being her favorite brother Jonas.
6JR
JR said his famous relative is his brother. Later in the episode, he admitted in his confessional that he lied about his brother being in the NBA because people always tell him he looks like basketball player Dwyane Wade. Gabriel believed him because of his shoe size, while Cole noted that J.R. had a beard like that of NBA player James Harden. However, during the talent show, when J.R. tried to show off some basketball skills, he didn’t make any of the shots he took. He fell and tore the ligaments in his foot. JR was in the bottom two but was not chosen as the guesser.
5 Vasyne
Claim to Fame’s Karsyn said her famous relative is best known for being a musician. In the talent show, she sang “Amazing Grace.” However, his singing was not the best. Nothing else has yet been revealed about Karsyn.
4 months
In the Two Truths and a Lie segment, Monay said her celebrity relative was her father, who is an Emmy-winning athlete. She then stated that lying was her strategy and that she lied about everything anyone could think of. When Hugo was ready to be the guesser, Carly shared with him and Travis that she thought Monay looked like Steve Harvey and that he might be her father. Carly said he’s been in TV forever and probably won an Emmy. She also pointed to the “Family is Everything” sign on the clue wall, which she thinks could represent Family Feud, which Steve hosts.
3 Olivier
Not much was revealed about Olivia in Episode 1 of Claim to Fame. She revealed that her famous relative is male and her biggest prize is a Razzie, which is a “Worst Of” prize. For the talent show, she danced on a pole.
2 Shayne
Claim to Fame Season 2 contestant Shayne said her famous relative was her father. She said he was a Grammy-winning musician. However, one of them is a lie. During the talent show, she did a card trick, guessing Kevin’s card. After Travis won the talent contest, along with the privilege of choosing a Wine Room clue, he chose Shayne’s. The puzzle clue could be deciphered like King, Coming to America and played buckwheat. These clues point to actor and comedian Eddie Murphy.
1 Travis
Travis claimed his famous relative was his father, an actor who won a Critics’ Choice Award. During the talent show Claim to Fame, he dressed as a chef and recited the first 100 digits of pi. At the end of his presentation, he said, “And that, my friends, is good pizza. He then unveiled a pizza with the number pi written in pepperoni. Travis confessed that his talent would put him in the “nerd category” and that he was a big risk because of his father’s identity. However, he wanted to stand out in order to win immunity, and he achieved that goal.
Hugo guessed that Travis was a scientist, engineer, or mathematician because he had “that kind of vibe.” Jane stated in her confessional that she was 100% certain of his identity because he spoke at the same cadence as his famous relative and recited pi. She said he wasn’t even a little subtle. Shayne and Monay later told Olivia and Gabriel that they believed Travis was the son of astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson. Shayne said there were lots of space clues on the clue wall, including an astronaut, a moon, and a space-themed bow tie. She added that Travis looks like Neil.
Claim to Fame is off to a good start. As the episodes continue, the clues will keep coming. It will be interesting and fun to see who these contestants are related to. The pieces are sure to come together as Claim to Fame Season 2 continues.
