With the new series of iPhones 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, for the first time in history, Apple has removed the iconic silent mode switch to replace it with an action button, which the Apple Watch Ultra got, for example, a year earlier. By default, the action button is still used to switch silent/loud mode, but Apple allows the choice of other functions in the settings, such as starting the flashlight, voice recorder, magnifier, focus mode or any camera. It is also possible to select one of the Accessibility functions.

But all this has one fundamental limitation. The button can always be set to only one of the functions. However, somewhat subtly, Apple mentions that Siri Shortcuts can also be mapped to the button, which is a piece of information that many may have missed. In fact, this very possibility allows you to turn the action button into a very powerful tool that you can use for practically anything, and even for multiple functions at once.
The iOS system offers several system functions that can be set to a button, if you don’t choose one, you can program your own function via the Shortcuts application.
