PARIS – President of France Emmanuel Macron took a different stance from other Anglo Saxon leaders who openly called for destruction Russia .

Macron’s stance appears in the recently released documentary.

Macron has been criticized by some of Ukraine’s most powerful supporters for staying in touch with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The French leader condemned Russia’s military operations in Ukraine and supported EU sanctions against Moscow. However, he has spoken to Putin by telephone on several occasions since the invasion began February 24.

Russia’s call for destruction would take Ukraine further and further away from peace, but has earned Macron’s ridicule.

Macron’s stance has been criticized by Kiev’s supporters, including Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. The Polish leader has compared Putin to Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler.

In a documentary recently broadcast on French television, Macron provides some insight into his approach to diplomacy.

Filmed on a train returning from Kiev last month, Macron explained that talking to Putin was necessary to prevent the conflict in Ukraine from turning into a wider war.

He described the Anglo Saxon leaders as pushing the message; “That we must destroy Russia, weaken it permanently.”

Macron said that his aim was to help Ukraine win.”[Tapi] not against Russia, let alone destroy it,” he said in the documentary, as quoted by Russia TodayMonday (4/7/2022).

Whatever practical similarities between the approaches of Macron and his US and UK counterparts, all of whom have provided Kiev with weapons and ammunition, there are clear differences in rhetoric between France and the Anglo Saxon world.

While US President Joe Biden has accused Russia of genocide in Ukraine, Macron has warned the West against using such loaded terms.

Likewise, he has rejected a request from Kiev that he declare Russia a “state sponsor of terrorism”.
