Unlicensed Illegal Laboratory in California Contains Deadly Pathogens including Corona Virus, HIV, and Malaria

Jakarta

The discovery of an illegal laboratory in California containing deadly pathogens, including the Corona virus, Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), and malaria has recently caused a stir.

If it weren’t for the wrong hose sticking out from behind the warehouse last spring, local officials probably wouldn’t have even known that a Chinese-managed biotech company was on the site. He found that the laboratory contained hundreds of vials of the virus and about 1,000 dead and dying laboratory rats.

Government investigators also found COVID and pregnancy diagnostic tests in the laboratory. There are at least 20 infectious agents stored, including the Corona virus, HIV, hepatitis, and herpes.

The lab operates under a company called Prestige Biotech without a license to do business in California. According to the company’s president, Xiuquin Yao, the laboratory is a successor to the now defunct Universal Meditech Inc.

However, officials sent to addresses associated with the company appeared to be either empty office buildings or addresses in China that could not be verified.

It is feared that the biological lab could trigger contamination in the area from improper waste disposal, as well as leaks from harmful bacteria and viruses that could pose a health hazard to local residents.

Previously, the lab, located in the sleepy town of Reedley, California, received official attention in early March when a code enforcement officer spotted a garden hose sticking out of a building where it shouldn’t have been.

This lucky catch set in motion a joint state, local, and federal investigation.
