sport">Who else but Cristiano Ronaldo signed for the opening goal. After a lightning-fast counter, the star player scored the 1-0 in the 15th minute. The Germans were still off to a good start. A goal by Robin Gosens in the 4th minute was disallowed for offside.
Own goals
sport">With fifteen minutes to play in the first half, Germany suddenly turned the game around. First benefited the team from an own goal by Rúben Dias who still touched a shot by Kai Havertz. A few minutes later it was another own goal by the Portuguese that helped Germany to the 2-1. This time Raphaël Guerreiro was the unlucky one.

sport">In the second half, Germany again got off to a good start. This time the Germans scored on their own. A cross from Gosens was well spent on Havertz who increased the lead to 3-1 in the 51st minute. After an hour it was Gosens himself who scored with his head: 4-1.
Warning
sport">In the 67th minute, the Germans received a hefty warning that the race was not yet over. Diogo Jota was able to score the 4-2 after a free kick. Germany got away well when Renato Sanches hit the post with more than ten minutes to play. And that was it. No more goals were scored in the 4 minutes of extra time.

“This time we showed something beautiful”
sport">Thomas Müller thought afterwards that there was something to cheer about for Germany. “The mood at our international matches is not so euphoric,” said the returned Bayern Munich attacker. “But this time we showed something beautiful.”
sport">Germany ‘had to’, after the previous defeat against France. “We have improved a few things,” said Müller. “We created a lot more threat, especially offensively, from the first minute actually. We really needed these 3 points and I can only say that we deserved them this time as well. It was good what we showed.”
sport">Kai Havertz thought so too. “We can be satisfied. After the defeat to France we had to show something and we did. It is important that we have continued to have faith in it. We believe in the approach of our trainer and in the system in which we play. But against Hungary it will now be tough again. You don’t get bad opponents at this tournament.”
