In Hamburg, a man is said to have spat at an SPD office and loudly made a death threat. The unknown is still being searched for, and state security is investigating. A corona demonstration planned for Saturday had previously been banned.
A man is said to have spat at the office of the deputy chairwoman of the Hamburg SPD parliamentary group, Ksenija Bekeris, on Pestalozzistrasse in Barmbek, jerked at the locked door and then yelled: “We’ll get you. We’ll kill you.” An employee who was still in the office on Thursday afternoon called the police – and then publicized the incident on Twitter.

Employees of the attacked SPD office suspected lateral thinkers
“I was able to experience how peaceful lateral thinkers are,” writes Leo Schneider in the post. He left it largely open how he came to the conclusion that the man who is said to have run in the direction of the Barmbek underground station after his crime is a lateral thinker. He only replied to a Twitter user that “the good gentleman was very vocal about his views on the pandemic situation during the attack”. So far, MOPO has not been able to reach Schneider for a statement.
But the politician herself, whose office became the scene of the crime. “Unfortunately, in Hamburg we experience from time to time that parliamentarians’ offices are attacked by dissidents, regardless of the party,” said Bekeris to the MOPO. “I am grateful that my employees are doing well and would like to use this unpleasant incident to remind them that it is dialogue with those who think differently that brings about change – never violence.”
State security is investigating after a death threat
A search by the police, who were already on site with numerous forces because of a demo, was unsuccessful, as a spokesman said. “A report was filed. The investigation is being conducted by state security and is ongoing.”

On the morning of the same day, the police had banned the Corona demonstration planned for Saturday again, for reasons of infection control. “Experience has shown that a large proportion of the participants will not adhere to measures such as the obligation to wear masks,” said a police spokesman. A counter-demonstration registered on the same day may take place.
Despite the cancellation of the large demo, the police will be stationed in the city center on Saturday. It seems quite possible that participants in the canceled demo will still mobilize and take to the streets. The result of an urgent application to the administrative court to be allowed to demonstrate is still pending. (dg)
