Sanna Nielsen is usually very private herself, but in “Stjärnorna på slotlett” she has chosen to open up – even if it’s private.
– My challenge was to really remove some kind of mask that I can wear sometimes when I get insecure and stuff like that, Nielsen told Expressen before the season premiere.
– But I went down there with the goal of just being myself. And try to forget about the cameras and just try to get to know new people. And of course, it’s not always easy. And that’s life in general, she continued.
On Saturday, Nielsen’s day is broadcast by the program and then she shares a special event where she really showed a new side of herself. The incident took place when she represented Sweden in the Eurovision song contest 2014 with the song “Undo”.
– I had done “Undo” right on stage and was so satisfied and happy and all of us were so damn happy. So we sat down in the green room and they just “Sanna, do you want a glass of champagne?” – “Yes!”, I say. “Absolutely, now it’s done,” she explains to Expressen.
She was asked again and again and the answer was always “Yes”.
– I think I drank six glasses of champagne and then I was asked “What do you want now?” – “An Irish coffee!”, I shout, says Nielsen.
“How can we win this?”
In the program, the stars gather around the dinner table and Sanna Nielsen tells us that she and the team had so much fun – and suddenly the Swedish contribution was at the top.
– And I looked at Christer Björkman and looked at my choir girls and just “How can we win this?”, Nielsen recounts in a slurred voice to imitate his drunken self.
Furthermore, Sanna Nielsen imitates what it would sound like if she had to sing “Undo” again – a screeching drunken song.
– It was very funny and comical, but yes, I simply got a little drunk there and had a lot of fun, says the singer to Expressen.
Luckily, Sanna Nielsen didn’t win – but Austrian Conchita Wurst.
Got to lead the Melodifestivalen
The drunken evening in Copenhagen ended with a third place for Sanna Nielsen – but led to another win, namely to lead the Melodifestivalen.
– And what I didn’t know at the time was that Christer Björkman and the whole team thought that the side they got to see of me on that sofa at Eurovision – then they felt that “but God, I want her to lead the Melodifestivalen”, says Nielsen in the program.
Her answer was an obvious yes and in 2015 she led Mello together with Robin Paulsson.
