Unknown asked for a cigarette and then stabbed passers-by

An unidentified young man stabbed a 64-year-old at Linz Central Station on Saturday afternoon. The alleged attacker asked the 64-year-old for a cigarette. The passer-by declared that he didn’t have any and walked on. Shortly thereafter, he was overtaken by the stranger, who then suddenly stabbed the Linzer with an unknown stabbing weapon, the Upper Austrian state police reported.

The injured man was able to drag himself to the police station at the main train station, the police took care of him and alerted the emergency doctor. The 64-year-old was taken from there to the Kepler University Hospital, he should not be in mortal danger.

According to the 64-year-old, the perpetrator was in his early 20s and spoke with a foreign accent and was dressed in dark clothing. He was accompanied by another young man, both wearing FFP2 masks and having black hair. An immediately initiated search at the main station and the surrounding area was initially unsuccessful. The Linz police are asking eyewitnesses for relevant information.
