Univisión on its website says that Sonia was born in Bogotá Colombia, but as a teenager she went to Deerfield Beach Florida with her family. She has a degree in Business Administration from Florida Metropolitan University and a graduate of the Art Institute of Fort-Lauderdale in Communication Sciences and Broadcasting.
The portal says that Sonia started at Univision in 1997 as a producer on shows like Despierta America and other shows and joined the Noticias 23 team in 1999 as a reporter.
The portal says that her husband is Andrés Sánchez (cameraman for the Univisión network), her children are Steven and Konstantine, who died on August 16, 2015 in a tragic traffic accident.
