Univision launches ‘PrendeTV’, its own video service

Miami, FL.- The Univision network announced this Tuesday that it will launch the live video service PrendeTV in the first quarter of this year, which it has defined as “the only streaming service created exclusively for the Hispanic audience in the United States with free programming 100% in Spanish.” .

“PrendeTV is an important initial step in Univision’s broader efforts to forge the same leadership position we have in Spanish-language television in the emerging Spanish-language streaming environment,” Wade Davis, CEO of Univision, said in a statement.

The service will have 30 channels and will include programming from Univision, Televisa and “international partners,” including soap operas, magazine-style shows and sports. It will also have Hollywood blockbuster movies and popular series in English, with audio in Spanish, the company said.
