The universities of Biobío, La Frontera and the University of Los Lagos will be part of the third version of the university performing arts meeting organized by the Cultural Corporation of Puerto Montt from Friday the 12th to Sunday the 14th at the Casa del Arte Diego Rivera.
Between Friday, January 12 and Sunday, January 14, the third version of the University Theater Meeting organized by the Cultural Corporation of Puerto Montt will take place and in this new edition it will bring to the Diego Rivera works from the companies of the University of Biobío de Concepción, La Frontera University of Temuco and the University of Los Lagos, Chiloé headquarters, which will present their productions with free admission at the cultural center.
This performing arts meeting, organized for the first time during the summer of 2020, was born with the idea of being a showcase for various professional training centers. This is how from the beginning the collaborative work with the La Frontera and Biobío universities has been fundamental, whose teams have been part of all the meetings that have been held at the Casa del Arte Diego Rivera, and which this year will feature, for the first time with the participation of the University of Los Lagos, Chiloé headquarters, who will be present with the play “SAKEO, dramaturgical recoveries” on Saturday, January 13 from 8:00 p.m.
In this sense, the executive director of the Cultural Corporation, Marcelo Utreras, comments that “for our CCPM team it is a true privilege to be able to offer the community that loves the performing arts, a new version of the University Theater Meeting, which for the first time will feature the institutional representation of a university in the area, the University of Los Lagos, whom we welcome and thank for their participation in this meeting, which is also the first festival of the year that we organize here, for all theater lovers at the Casa del “Diego Rivera Art.”
For her part, Yasna Ceballos, director of the Theater Company of the University of Biobío, who will be in charge of opening the Theater Meeting on Friday, January 12, with the play “The lesson” highlights this type of instances that “do not They not only contribute to strengthening the training of students as future professionals, but also challenge Universities to implement new approaches to professional training; supporting and giving all the possibilities and tools so that the student body can recognize in the Theater its tremendous potential for research, creation and knowledge. This meeting, for example, not only allows us to show our work, but also recognize other university institutions in these efforts.”
Along the same lines, Óscar Salinas, director of the University Company of the Universidad de la Frontera of Temuco, which will be presented on Sunday the 14th, from 4:00 p.m. with the family play “El copihue azul” adds that “for us it is very important to face audiences from other parts of the country. Especially on a stage with as much prestige as the Diego Rivera Theater, and with the professional treatment given to the casts. Traveling now is transformative, but meeting again with the Puerto Montt audience that has a high stage training, is a great challenge.” It should be noted that this work will also have a performance at the Calbuco House of Culture, where it will be presented on Saturday the 13th from 8:00 p.m. with free entry.
