University of Toronto Reaches Historic Agreement with CUPE Unions After Weekend Negotiations

An agreement in principle was reached between the University of Toronto and staff represented by CUPE 3902 and CUPE 3261 early Monday morning.

The agreement follows a marathon of negotiations over the weekend. It is the result of historic coordination between unions on campus and sustained mobilization of teaching assistants, lecturers, postdoctoral researchers, casual staff, as well as building and grounds maintenance workers, janitors, veterinary technologists, residence and food service staff, and more.

Members of the five academic and support staff bargaining units will vote on ratification in the coming days.

To celebrate this milestone, CUPE 3902 and CUPE 3261 held a rally Monday morning, March 4, at 9 a.m. in front of Convocation Hall at King’s College Circle.
