What is high-quality teaching? How can equal opportunities be achieved in the education system and how has the education system changed in recent years, in what way and with what results? More than ever, reliable knowledge is needed to be able to provide answers to these and other questions, as the education system is facing dynamic change. Under the heading “Knowledge transfer between educational research, educational practice and teacher training”, the Working Group for Empirical Educational Research (AEPF) will meet from September 10 to 12 at the University of Osnabrück.

A total of around 350 scientists, representatives from school administration, school practice and students are expected to attend the conference.

“What is particularly important to us is that the authority to interpret the issue does not lie with individual groups of actors,” say those responsible, Prof. Dr. Christian Reintjes and Prof. Dr. Sonja Nonte. “Because the necessary changes can only be successfully implemented if we think and work across disciplines, professions and subject boundaries. This requires a culture of sharing, communicating and cooperating at all levels.”

The following topics are on the agenda, among others: science-practice transfer, effectiveness of measures to reduce structural educational inequalities, opportunities and limitations of teacher professionalization, and schools in transition.
“Overall, we see the conference as a great opportunity to create a framework for collegial exchange and to demonstrate connections to actors from educational administration and practice in order to take them more into account in the future when developing the educational system and thus to realize successful transfer processes.”
