(Reuters) – The morale of American households has deteriorated very slightly since the beginning of August compared to July, the first results of the monthly survey from the University of Michigan showed on Friday.
Its confidence index stood at 71.2 this month after 71.6 a month earlier. Economists and analysts polled by Reuters on average had expected a figure of 71.0.
The component of consumers’ judgment of their current situation came out at 77.4, after 76.6 in July and a consensus of 76.9.
That of the outlook is displayed at 67.3 against 68.3 previously and a consensus at 68.1.
