The University of Liverpool will offer a master’s degree on The Beatles starting in September, reports The St Helens Reporter Wednesday. In the place where the world-famous former pop group grew up, students can learn all about the music and culture of the band.
The master’s degree program The Beatles: Music Industry and Heritage is intended for interested parties from the music and creative sector, as well as employees of museums, art galleries and the tourism and leisure industry.
The degree focuses on the importance of the Beatles to the music and creative industries, popular culture and culture and tourism in the 21st century.
The four-piece Beatles were a major influence on pop music in the 1960s, putting Liverpool on the map. Worldwide it came to a Beatlemania.
With hits like Hey Jude, Let It Be in Yesterday the group, which split in 1970, is one of the most successful bands in history. Two members of the so-called ‘Fab Four’ are still alive: singer and bassist Paul McCartney (78) and drummer Ringo Starr (80).
