The university elections will take place this Tuesday, March 8 on the various campuses of the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne in order to appoint the members of the board of directors. Three candidates are running for the future presidency of Urca, including the outgoing Gilles Baillat.
The University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne organizes its university elections this Tuesday, March 8. Urca who counts 25,500 students play its future. Among the major themes addressed during this campaign: the deficit budgetthe project of grand campus and the place of Urca in the greater region.
In a delicate situation, the Urca would have a deficit estimated at 1,700,000 euros. This should weaken the candidacy of the current president Gilles Baillat, supported by the list “In the service of URCA”.
Elections, instructions for use
It’s a list ballot which will designate the board members. The vote is done by colleges for each of the four lists presented: the “teachers” college (8 elected), the “other teachers” college (8 elected), the “students” college (6 elected) and the “technical and administrative” (6 elected).
These 28 elected officials will then elect 8 outside personalities: 4 community representatives and 4 qualified personalities (principals, principals, business leaders or union representatives).
The name of the future president of the University will not be known until Monday, March 21 following a vote between the 28 elected members of the Board of Directors and the 8 external personalities.
Four lists are in the running : “Independent and responsible alternative”, “Together for Urca” which supports Guillaume Gellé, “Quality, research, training” (in the service of Georges Durry) and “In the service of Urca” (pro Gilles Baillat).
The three candidates
Candidates for the presidency have until March 10 to declare themselves. Three men are already seeking the most coveted position.
- Gilles Baillat, 63, has been president of Urca for four years. Professor of education sciences, this history graduate is campaigning for a rapprochement with the UTT of Troyes.
- Georges Durry, 49, is a member of the board of directors and director of the laboratory of molecular and atmospheric spectrometry of the faculty of sciences. For him, the Urca must be closer to Paris.
- Guillaume Gellé, 47, is also a member of the board of directors. A professor of computer engineering, automation and signal processing, he was also vice-president under the former presidency of Richard Vistelle. His project is to get closer to the Belgium.
