Magdeburg (dpa / sa) – Four universities in Saxony-Anhalt are receiving seven million euros from a federal-state program for the joint search for young professors. The Ministry of Economic Affairs announced on Thursday. The universities of Anhalt, Harz, Magdeburg-Stendal and Merseburg want to use the money to build a joint center that will recruit talented candidates and support them in acquiring the requirements for taking on a professorship. The background to this is that more than a third of all professorships at the four universities will have to be filled by 2026. A total of 64 universities are funded with the federal-state program.
