Berlin (dpa / bb) – Berlin has extended the standard period of study for the third time in the pandemic. Students who receive BAfÖG do not lose any entitlement to it. The Senate Chancellery announced on Wednesday that submission deadlines for term papers and theses can be extended again after consultation with the universities. For the new summer semester, there is also four million euros in emergency aid for teaching and studying. Universities could use the money, for example, for test concepts to enable more encounters.

According to the Senate Chancellery, 22.6 million euros in support have already flowed into digital university teaching during the pandemic. An additional technology fund made it possible for more than 4,500 students to take part with over three million euros. There are around 200,000 students, teachers, researchers and other university employees in the capital.
