Lima, Aug 18 (EFE).- Universitario and Alianza Lima finished first and second in the Clausura tournament of Peru’s Liga 1 after beating Deportivo Garcilaso 3-1, the first, and tying Sporting Cristal, the second, in the seventh round of the Peruvian soccer tournament.
Both clubs have 14 points, but the “U” has a better goal difference, after the victory against Garcilaso with goals from Martín Pérez Guedes, Jairo Concha and a penalty from José Rivera.
Gaspar Gentille scored for Garcilaso in his visit to the Estadio Monumental last Friday.
Alianza Lima tied 0-0 with Cristal on Saturday, which allowed them to earn a point to equal their classic rival.
Meanwhile, Cristal placed fourth, with 12 points, behind Cusco FC, which on Thursday tied 1-1 in its visit to Alianza Atlético de Sullana.
The goals were scored by Renato Espinoza for the northern team and by Oswaldo Valenzuela for the Cusco team.
In other matches of the date, César Vallejo tied 2-2 with Sport Boys with goals from Yorleys Mena and Carlos Ascues for the poet team, and from Gilmar Rodríguez and Fabrizio Roca for the pink team.
Boys’ Christian Ramos was sent off in the 75th minute and towards the end of the match referee Pablo López disallowed Vallejo’s third goal for a prior foul by Osnar Noronha.
Likewise, Cienciano del Cusco won 1-0 against Atlético Grau with a penalty from Carlos Garcés, while Sport Huancayo won by the minimum difference in their visit to Unión Comercio thanks to the intervention of Marcos Lliuya.
In other results, Comerciantes Unidos tied 1-1 with UTC, the same result that ADT obtained with Melgar.
In the closing match of the day, Los Chankas received Carlos Manucci on Sunday and tied 1-1 with goals from José Manzaneda and Alexander Succar, respectively.
