Universidad de Oriente to Launch Medicine and Social Communication Programs

The Universidad de Oriente (UDO) in Monagas state ‍is gearing up to expand its academic ​offerings with the addition ‍of two new schools: Social interaction and Medicine. Guillermo Carreño, the university’s academic coordinator, revealed that the proposals are currently under review by the National Council of Universities and the university Sector Planning Office (OPSU).

“There is‌ no set‌ date yet,” Carreño explained. “The prospectus for the Social Communication school is already being considered by the University Council. As for ⁣the Medicine⁤ prospectus, we are finalizing the last adjustments, aiming to submit it for analysis and consideration in the first quarter of the year.”

Carreño expressed ‌optimism that the⁤ Journalism program, ⁤a component of the Social Communication school, could be the first⁢ to‌ open‌ its doors at‍ the university’s eastern Venezuela campus.

“The Social ‍Communication degree will be born at the UDO Monagas to update the university and put it at the forefront of the requirements and needs of the country,”

he added. Currently, the ​Universidad del Oriente offers ‌nine active programs on its Los Guaritos campus.
