“Universal Music Group Takes a Stand Against AI-Generated Songs and Copyright Infringement”

The recording giant Universal Music Group (UMG) is against all artificial intelligence tools. At the beginning of the month, he issued a statement on Misuse and violation of copyright after users made songs with the voice of their artists.

UMG sent letters to streaming platforms like Spotify and TikTok to “request that block all AI platforms so that they do not train in the melodies and lyrics of the copied songs.

This originated from user Ghostwriter977 uploading to YouTube and TikTok a song called Heart on My Sleevewhich contained voices of Drake y The Weeknd.

“We will not hesitate to take action to protect our rights and those of our artists”, stated UMG.

The video, already downloaded from streaming, came to have about 15 million views on TikTok and some 600 thousand transmissions on Spotify.

AI generated music

This is not the first time this has happenedsince a few months ago a youtuber had to remove the rights to his video that contained an AI-generated song about kittens, using the voice of rapper Eminem.

At the beginning of the year, the Uberduck tool even allowed us to listen to the singer Ariana Grande singing songs by Dua Lipa, and Lady Gaga singing her own version of the song. Born To Die by Lana Del Rey.

These versions have already been removed from YouTube by infringe copyright.
