It will guarantee integrity in commercial aviation and improve situational awareness for pilots
Universal Avionics informed that it obtained the authorization of the Standard Technical Order (TSO) for its solution of visual data management Aperturewith which it will be able to start series production for this important avionics original equipment manufacturer (OEM).
The company explained that this authorization paves the way for the initial delivery of the system for improve safety and improve decision making for flight crews and mission specialists.
Introduced to the market at the 2021 National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Business Aviation Convention and Exposition (BACE), this authorization from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) allows delivery of the unit to an OEM for use in your flight deck tender on new aircraft.
The Aperture system can process eight video inputs and support four video outputs with near-zero latency, at the highest level of integrity in commercial aviation (Design Assurance Level A). Images from an Enhanced Vision System (EVS) camera and other artificial intelligence sensors are presented to the flight crew, improving situational awareness.
It will also allow pilots to take advantage of real-time content analytics and augmented reality, such as visual positioning, obstacle detection, taxi guidance and traffic awareness, leveraging Universal’s extensive competencies in vision systems.
“The Aperture TSO authorization is a critical step in developing an innovative solution that will change the way we use video on aircraft. This approval validates the technology and allows us to continue to innovate solutions for the future,” said Dror Yahav, CEO of Universal Avionics.
