Mexico City. Unity was what President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo asked of the legislators of the transformation movement when she received them this morning at the National Palace.
In response, deputies and senators from Morena and allied parties defined themselves as “soldiers of transformation” and closed ranks around the federal president’s project.
In her first meeting with the legislators adhering to the 4T – which took place one day before the economic package for 2025 was sent – the head of the Executive recognized the progress that has been made in the first days of the new Legislature.
Upon leaving the meeting, which took place behind closed doors, Morena’s coordinator in the Chamber of Deputies, Ricardo Monreal, stated in an interview that the Legislature has so far approved 11 of 18 constitutional reforms and two regulations that the former sent last February. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador; in addition to two reforms to the Magna Carta proposed by Sheinbaum Pardo.
“We reviewed the reforms made so far, 45 articles of the Constitution. It is practically a new Constitution with the 40 modifications that remain,” he highlighted.
The coordinator of the cherry party in the Senate, Adán Augusto López, pointed out that it was a “meeting of coexistence, exchange of opinions, to ratify the commitment to continue working so that the 4T is consolidated.”
He said that the meeting was about the progress that has been made in recent months in legislative work. “We have, as you well know, the qualified majority in the Senate, in the Chamber of Deputies and in the permanent constituent.”
In the encirclement, the first to speak was the head of the Ministry of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez; The coordinators of the three parliamentary groups (Morena, PT and Green Party) continued in both chambers; and the President closed.”
The president of the board of directors in San Lázaro, Sergio Gutiérrez Luna, assured that they reviewed the agenda with the president and made a recapitulation of the reforms that have been achieved, including the judicial one.
“We left happy, we left encouraged, we have a great leader, President Claudia Sheinbaum (…) Of course we all confirmed that she is counting on us, that we are soldiers of the transformation. And without lowering our spirits or guard, we continue with the reforms that will still be made in this period,” he said.
