At the Unite event this week, Unity announced that the sixth version of its game engine, Unity 6, will be released next year. Marc Whitten, President and CEO of Unity Create, highlights the use of AI tools in the new version:
“[de er] trained exclusively on data and images owned or licensed by Unity […] We are focused on managing the development of AI functions in a transparent and responsible way […] Our approach is to think through how we can deliver tools that are easy for creators to use, responsibly sourced, and that creators can feel confident using in their projects.”
This is their first new version of the game engine since the debacle surrounding increased fees earlier this year. Whitten emphasizes that this is part of the long-term process of regaining trust among developers:
“We are here to listen and understand the community’s challenges and offer solutions that help”.
