Beerschot, which has already been promoted, will get its first chance this weekend to also win the title in the Challenger Pro League. Despite the buzzing rumors, the takeover soap opera is not over yet.

Chairman Francis Vrancken (with his company DCA he is a minority shareholder, like Philippe Verellen of Wolf Oil he has 12.5 percent of the shares) believed the day after the promotion that an agreement was imminent. But according to our information, the proposal from the foreign party that the Beerschot chairman talked about earlier this week does not seem to be successful.

To be clear: main shareholder United World, which owns 75 percent of the shares, does indeed want to sell Beerschot. But only to the right party and the right price. In total, United World, together with DCA and Wolf Oil, has already pumped almost 30 million euros into the Antwerp tradition club. It is likely that all parties want to recoup a significant part of these investments.

United World is currently busy preparing for the 2024-2025 season. Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad will soon meet with technical director Gyorgy Csepregi and head coach Dirk Kuyt. Pending a possible takeover, the Saudi holding company mainly wants the club to be ready for 1A and that the mistakes of the past will not be repeated.
