Produced by United We Dream, an organization run by immigrant youth in the United States, Without borders, only flavors!is a new culinary competition launched on YouTube where contestants prepare family recipes from their respective countries.
The four-episode series in English with Spanish subtitles features immigrant youth, including undocumented immigrants, DACA recipients, and first- and second-generation immigrants from around the country.
The show showcases the power of food as a means to share the joy, pride and connection of the immigrant community that doesn’t make the news headlines. Without borders, only flavors!demonstrates how two totally different immigrant communities can come together to have their own version of the same dish.
Juanita Monsalve, the show’s executive producer and creative director, United We Dream’s senior creative and marketing director, said, “By centering the diverse voices of our community, this show brings immigrant stories to life. Every aspect of the show is intentional. We decided to do a series that has the goal of highlighting the diversity of the immigrant experience both in front of and behind the camera. By being broadcast on YouTube, the series will be available on a platform that diverse audiences visit to enjoy authentic stories that reflect their own lives and that they cannot find anywhere else.
