United States Urges Israel to Reduce Airstrikes on Gaza Strip: The Times of Israel Report

The United States presidential administration is putting pressure on Israel to reduce the number of airstrikes on the southern Gaza Strip.

Source: The Times of Israel became known from representatives of the United States and Israel, reports “European truth”.

Details: The US claims the IDF has less legitimacy to attack the sector after telling civilians to evacuate there from the north, the sources said.

An Israeli official said IDF strikes were concentrated mainly in the northern Gaza Strip, where most of Hamas’ strongholds are located. However, Israel reserves the right to target the terrorist group anywhere in Gaza after the Oct. 7 attack, the official said.

The Israeli official stressed that the IDF had set aside a humanitarian zone for Palestinians in southwest Gaza. But a U.S. official said the area had not been clearly designated by Israel and was too small to accommodate Gaza’s entire population of 2.3 million, leaving the vast majority of civilians still subject to air bombardment.

Washington acknowledges, according to a US official, that Hamas operates from within and under cover of civilian populations throughout Gaza. But the US is concerned about the rising number of civilian casualties, complicating the Biden administration’s ability to continue to support Israel’s military operation and encourage allies to follow suit.
