United States: two babies miraculously found alive after tornadoes pass through Kentucky

A week after the violent tornadoes that hit the state of Kentucky (western United States), a real miracle took place in Hopkins County.

December 10 and 11, 2021 will mark the United States forever. Dozens of tornadoes hit several states across the country, including Kentucky. The disaster left nearly 90 people dead and as the surveillance camera footage of a bank in Mayfield, Kentucky, shows, it was best not to be in the path of a tornado.

Yet some were unable to flee. This is the case of Clara Lutz and her two grandchildren, Kaden (15 months) and Dallas (3 months), whom she babysat that weekend in Hopkins County, Kentucky. The grandmother will instinctively place the two babies in the tub, blankets around them, a Bible in the middle. Clara will stay nearby to protect them.

When the tornado arrives, the force of the winds pushes the bathtub out of its foundations and the two children are then propelled into the air. Clara Lutz, meanwhile, is thrown to the floor after being hit on the head by a corner of the tub. His house was completely destroyed.

A pigeon’s egg as the only wound

“I was looking everywhere for the tub. I had no idea where these babies were. All I could say was’ Lord, please bring my babies back to me safely. ‘”, Clara Lutz told our colleagues 14news.

While seeking help around her, the grandmother meets sheriff’s deputies and two locals who continue to search with her. Through the debris, they eventually find the tub. And underneath, the two children miraculously safe and sound, as seen in the video from the pedestrian cameras of one of the sheriff’s deputies.

Dallas, the smallest, had a “pigeon egg on the back of his head,” his skull was bleeding but the bleeding stopped before he arrived at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.

The bathtub, a saving place

Kaden and Dallas aren’t the only tornado survivors thanks to a bathtub. A woman, her fiance and their 8-month-old child were also found unharmed after their bathtub flew a few feet away.

US Congressman Trent Arnold was present at the scene after the disaster. According to him, the action of the grandmother certainly saved the lives of the two toddlers. The authorities also recommend hiding in bathtubs in the event of a tornado, because it is one of the most solid places to live.
