CORONAVIRUS – The facts go back to Monday June 22 in San Diego. While the United States are facing the epidemic of coronavirus, bars and restaurants have been allowed to reopen but the wearing a mask is recommended by the authorities. Amber Lynn Gilles goes to a Starbucks for coffee late afternoon without wearing a mask. An employee of the firm then refuses to serve her, if she does not put on her mask.
Furious, the client decides to take a picture of the server and report it on Facebook. “This is Lenin from Starbucks who refused to serve me because I don’t wear a mask. Next time, I’ll wait for the cops and bring a medical dispensation, ”she wrote on the social network.

Within hours, her publication backfired. Many Internet users have defended the server, Lenin Gutierrez. Some have given the client the name “Karen”, a name used to describe a white woman making inappropriate remarks.
“I don’t blame the kid behind the counter. He must follow the rules given to him by his employer ”, can be read in the comments. “There is no reason to publicly shame a kid who tries to work like any other day,” wrote another surfer.
Amber Lynn Gilles’s post was shared more than 49,000 times until a man named Matt Cowan stumbled upon the post and offered to collect a pot on the site. GoFundMe, presented as a “tip” for the young man.
“I set the pot at $ 1,000, thinking we would be lucky if we reached $ 250. When we hit $ 100, I was overwhelmed by it, ”Matt Cowan told KGTV, quoted by the Washington Post. By Friday afternoon, the donation drive had surpassed $ 32,000.

In a video posted on Facebook, Lenin wanted to thank everyone who supported him while explaining what really happened. “I asked her if she had a mask, she replied that she didn’t need it. I showed him the recommendations for customers showing the obligation to wear the mask. She lost her nerves and started to feel uncomfortable. She left, then she came back and asked me my name. I told her my name was Lenin, she took a picture of me and said she would contact Starbucks head office, ”he said.

Obviously, Amber Lynn Gilles did not appreciate the pot intended for Lenin. In a video posted on social networks, she claims to have received death threats. “I never threatened him, I just called him to report his actions. I never threatened him and I received death threats, thousands, it’s very frightening, ”she said.
According to NBC San Diego, Amber has even asked for part of these funds raised and plans to sue the creator of the pot for defamation.
