In Texas, a couple faces up to $250,000 for feeding ducks. If convicted, the man and woman will have no choice but to sell their home.

Kathleen and George Rowe, two Cypress retirees, learned on June 11 that several of their neighbors had filed a lawsuit against them. They claim that by feeding the ducks, the couple always attracts more birds, which destroy their gardens and defile the surroundings with their droppings.

The homeowners association behind the lawsuit says the retirees broke community rules. According to them, they have created “dirty, health-hazardous and disorderly” conditions that can “disturb or destroy vegetation, wildlife, wetlands or air quality”, detailed Insider.

Kathleen and George Rowe had been warned several times but continued to feed the ducks. Mrs Rowe explained that she had grown fond of and pitied the ducks.

If these two retirees were to lose the lawsuit, they could be condemned to pay up to 250,000 dollars in compensation. If so, they will be forced to sell their house.
