United States: The polls gave the first results

In the same time zone, polling stations do not all close at the same time. The first states to close are Indiana and Kentucky, at 18:00 local time (midnight in Switzerland). That’s three hours before New York State, in the same time zone. Representatives from the first two states are likely to release some of the first mid-term results later.

On the Pacific coast, California will close its offices at 8:00 pm local time (5:00 am Wednesday, Switzerland). Finally, Alaska and Hawaii will no longer accept votes at 8:00 pm and 7:00 pm local time respectively (6:00 am Wednesday in Switzerland). Within hours, results from most regions are expected to arrive, but some states are expected to count much faster than others.
