United States: the designation of a “hate group” for a Christian organization does not pass

Eric Bruskin, a US Department of Justice official, is currently being harshly criticized on social media for calling the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a pro-life Christian religious freedom organization, a “hate group” on LinkedIn. He replied to a former colleague, who said he was honored to speak at an ADF event in August: “Jason (Weida) is a hate group. You’ll be speaking at a conference for a hate group. Are these your beliefs? If so, it is time to end our professional association ”. In the midst of the backlash, he later deleted his posts about it and his LinkedIn account was closed.

The ADF describes itself as “the largest legal organization in the world committed to protecting religious freedom, freedom of expression, sanctity of life, parental rights and God’s purpose for marriage and family.” Among its latest actions, the association successfully opposed the closure of a New York adoption agency, which entrusts children only to married heterosexual couples. A petition is currently underway on the Alliance website, following the dismissal of a nurse from a low-cost clinic, for her refusal to provide abortions.

“Eric P. Bruskin, I see your disgusting, bigoted comment and the information on LinkedIn is gone. Cowardly! “
