United States: Orlando withdraws from Women’s League tournament – Foot – USA (F) – Coronavirus

The Orlando Pride team announced Monday that it is withdrawing from the tournament hosted by the United States Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) in Utah, after six of its players and four staff members were tested positive for Covid-19. Orlando was scheduled to participate in the NWSL Challenge Cup, a nine-team tournament that begins on June 27 and runs until July 26.

Withdrawal from this competition is “Obviously difficult and disappointing for our players, our staff and our supporters”said Amanda Duffy, executive vice president of Orlando. “However, it was a decision that was made to protect the health of everyone involved in the Challenge Cup. “

“Our priority now is to make sure our players and staff are better and to give them all the support they can”added the manager. The club said that no player or staff member who contracted the virus had yet developed any symptoms of the disease.
