A 20-year-old American case of polio was recorded in the United States this summer, whilst the illness has been eradicated in most countries of the world – with the exception of Pakistan and Afghanistan -, in accordance to the UN. The virus has also been detected in New York’s sewage, suggesting broader contamination. Even though there is no treatment for this ailment, state health and fitness officers are urging persons to get vaccinated quickly.
