Sunday December 12, Nyla Anderson (10 years old) died in Pennsylvania (United States) after participating in the “Blackout Challenge”, a challenge that has become popular on TikTok. The little girl was found unconscious in her bedroom by her mother. Taken quickly to the hospital, she did not get out. She died a few hours later.
“I’m very hurt. It’s a pain that won’t go away. It’s at the top of my throat.”, Tawainna Anderson told ABC 7.

The famous challenge launched on TikTok consists of strangling yourself with your hands or with any other everyday object (shoelace, scarf, etc.) until you lose consciousness. According to Elizabeth Wood, a registered clinical social worker at the hospital, Nyla was alone in her room at the time of the incident. Her family were at home, but no one intervened in time.
In shock, her mother the girl recommended that other parents be careful about what their children are doing. “Make sure to check your kid’s phone. You never know what you might find on their phone.”, did she say.
