United States. Joe Biden to Meet George Floyd’s Family on Monday

The Democratic candidate for president of United States, Joe Biden, will travel to Houston on Monday and meet with the family of George Floyd, his associates said, two weeks after Death of 46-year-old American black man when arrested by police sparked widespread protests against racial discrimination in the United States and worldwide.

Joe Biden is expected to offer condolences to relatives of George Floyd and record a video message for the private funeral service to be held Tuesday in Houston, George Floyd’s hometown. The Democratic candidate should not attend the service in order to avoid any disruption which might be caused by his protection by the secret services.

A public ceremony is also scheduled for Monday in Houston.

George Floyd died on May 25 in Minneapolis after being held on the ground for almost nine minutes by a police officer pressing a knee on his neck. Images of the arrest, which quickly spread across the United States, sparked anger at American police accused of racism and brutality against the African American community.

Biden often mourned

Joe Biden recently criticized the attitude of the President Donald Trump in the face of protests, which have been largely peaceful but have occasionally led to violent clashes and property damage.

Joe Biden’s trip to Texas comes in an election campaign disrupted by the new coronavirus pandemic.

Since the start of the containment measures, Joe Biden has only left his Delaware home a handful of times and has traveled no further than Philadelphia.

Joe Biden, who served as vice president during the tenure of Barack Obama, is often praised by his supporters for his ability to offer comfort to those in mourning.

His first wife and young daughter died in a car accident, and his son Beau died of brain cancer.
