A 63-year-old New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo dreams of only one thing: surpassing his father Mario Cuomo (1932-2015) in political longevity. This required the eldest son of the late New York Democrat heavyweight, himself governor from 1983 to 1994, to win a fourth term in 2022.
The bet seems more and more out of reach. For ten days, the Italian-American councilor has almost completely disappeared from the radar. No daily press conference, once unavoidable in the first months of the coronavirus epidemic, has been scheduled, an apparent consequence of a resounding scandal that strongly compromises Andrew Cuomo’s presidential ambitions, and also threatens to permanently shatter his political career.
