United States.- Huawei wants to discuss its case with Washington on the sidelines of the talks with Beijing

MADRID, 26 (EUROPA PRESS)

The Chinese technology manufacturer Huawei wants to discuss its situation in the United States with the new Administration of President Joe Biden separately from the negotiations that Washington has with Beijing on relations between the two powers, according to a representative of the company to the newspaper ‘Nikkei Asian Review ‘.

“We want to have a separate discussion from the Chinese government. We don’t want to be grouped in that discussion,” said Tim Danks, vice president of risk management and partner relations at Huawei Technologies USA.

In this regard, the company, which has not yet had contact with the new Administration since Biden took office in January, expressed its confidence in starting discussions soon.

“We believe that the Huawei issue is a separate issue that should be taken separately. If we can have that discussion, we can have pragmatic solutions to the concerns of the US government and work together to find a way forward,” Danks added.

In this sense, while the Chinese manufacturer does not see its complete withdrawal from the list of US entities likely in the short term, the company executive did express Huawei’s desire to achieve “adjustments” in the situation that would allow The Chinese giant’s US suppliers continue to sell to Huawei.

“In the short term, selling in the US is not a priority for Huawei. Our priority is the supply chain,” he said.

In early February, the founder and CEO of Huawei, Ren Zhengfei, indicated his hope that the new United States government could have a “more open” policy, something that would benefit the economy and the American companies themselves. , although he admitted the difficulty of getting the Chinese company off the list of entities of the US Government.

“I will not say that it is impossible, but it is extremely difficult, so basically, we do not have that expectation,” he told the South China Morning Post.
