United StatesDonald Trump is expected to formalize his 2024 candidacy on Tuesday
Donald Trump spoke for several days about his desire to make a “big announcement” from his Florida residence on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
Former US President Donald Trump, who is rumored to be ready to run again for the White House, will declare on Tuesday that he is a “candidate in the election” of 2024, one of his close advisers confirmed on Friday.
The real estate mogul previously hinted he might run, promising to make a “big announcement” from his Florida townhouse, Mar-a-Lago – the content of which hasn’t really stirred up suspense in recent days.
“President Trump will announce Tuesday that he is running for president. And it will be a very professional and very accurate announcement,” his adviser Jason Miller told War Room, the podcast of Steve Bannon, another close friend of Donald Trump. The 76-year-old Republican believes that the question of his candidacy “is not don’t even ask,” Miller explained, saying she spoke to him earlier in the day.
“here we go”
“Of course I introduce myself. I will and I want to make sure people know I’m excited and we need to get the country back on track,” Donald Trump allegedly assured. “Everyone knows I’m going to show up, so let’s go,” he allegedly added.
Donald Trump’s candidacy will be his third in the White House. But while his influence on the Republican Party remains undeniable, he came away weakened in last Tuesday’s midterm elections, in which many of his lieutenants disappointed.
The conservative “wave” so desired by its supporters has not broken and, even if the definitive results are not yet known, the Democrats seem to have managed to limit the damage. Several days after the runoff, a tense vote count continued on Friday, with control of Congress left uncertain.
Republicans seemed on course to win a majority in the House of Representatives, but they were still seven seats short. As for the Senate, a runoff in Nevada and another in Arizona could be decisive. If a party wins these two seats, the upper house wins.
2020 remake?
But if one goes to Republicans and the other to Democrats, Americans will have to be patient. Everything will then be played out in Georgia where, none of the candidates having collected 50% of the votes necessary to win the senatorial seat up for grabs on Tuesday, a second round will be organized… on December 6th.
Unlike Donald Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, triumphantly re-elected, is crowned with the image of this election season’s big winner. The victory of this new star of the far right solidified his role as a potential rival of the former president for the Republican nomination. That didn’t escape the billionaire, who this week chained spades and taunts against what he dubbed “Ron-la-Morale.”
And, coincidence or not with the calendar, Tuesday will also be the day of the publication of the memoirs of another possible competitor of Donald Trump, his former vice president Mike Pence. The 2024 elections could be a remake of those of 2020: his then opponent, the current Democratic president Joe Biden, this week reiterated his “intention” to run for a second term. But he took care to postpone any final decision until next year.
