United States dominates Group C in FIBA World Cup 2023 against Greece: Pasay

United States of America unchallenged in Group C FIBA World Cup 2023. Face Greece on the second matchday, Uncle Sam’s country managed to win convincingly with a score of 109-81.

Playing at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay, Monday (28/8), the US faced tough resistance from Greece in the first quarter, but managed to lead 23-19 in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Steve Kerr’s team began to appear more comfortable.

Brandon Ingram et al scored 27 points compared to 18 belonging to Greece, closing the first half with a score of 50-37. In the third quarter, US dominance continued.

29 points were scored by eight different players, the most being Anthony Edwards with 9 points. Meanwhile, Greece again scored 19 points, making the distance between the two teams even further, 79-56 for the US.

In the final quarter, the US scored 30 points, 10 of which were through Bobby Portis Jr. Meanwhile, Greece packed 25 points, so the game closed with a score of 109-81.

Austin Reaves scored the most points for the US in this match, namely 15 points. Jalen Brunson and Edwards contributed 13 points each. Portis packed 10 points all in the fourth quarter. The rest did not reach double digit points.

Meanwhile in the Greek camp, Georgios Papagiannis scored 17 points, followed by Nikos Rogkavopoulos with 14 points. The rest scored under 10 points.

These results ensured that the US advanced to the second round thanks to two wins in the first two matches. They will face Jordan in the last match, Wednesday (30/8). Meanwhile, Greece will have a decisive match against New Zealand on the same day.
