The United States, which had vetoed the Israel-Hamas ceasefire resolution at the UN Security Council, is delaying its passage by repeatedly requesting that the vote be postponed.
The U.S. Secretary of State explained the reason for delaying the vote, saying that discussions were needed to further increase humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, but his intentions appear to be different.

The UN Security Council again ended its meeting without voting on a resolution calling for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
The second vote was postponed at the request of the United States.
U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blinken said consultations are underway to come up with a resolution that the United States can agree to.
It is reported that a tug-of-war is underway over preventing Israel from inspecting humanitarian aid supplies entering the Gaza Strip.

Secretary Blinken urged Israel to minimize civilian casualties and expressed dissatisfaction with the international public opinion that did not voice condemnation of Hamas.

Some are also predicting that the United States is taking its time in the Security Council until the ceasefire negotiations underway in the Middle East are reached.
Amid the Palestinian Authority’s announcement that the number of casualties in the Gaza Strip exceeded 20,000, the UN Security Council decided to try again to vote on a ceasefire resolution on the 21st local time.
The New York Times reported that other council members are feeling frustrated by the United States’ repeated requests to postpone the vote, and that it seems unlikely that the United States will ultimately pass the resolution.
