“United States Boxing Federation Withdraws from International Boxing Federation – Impact on American Boxers and Competitions”

The United States Boxing Federation officially announced its withdrawal from the International Boxing Federation on Wednesday. As a result, American boxers, coaches and referees will no longer be able to participate in competitions organized by the IBA, such as the World Championships (May 1-14 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan).

“USA Boxing is committed to working tirelessly with World Boxing, like-minded National Federations and the global Olympic boxing community to earn the privilege of being part of the Olympic movement”, guaranteed Mike McAtee, the director of the federation. Members of the international federation and its predecessor (AIBA) since 1946, the United States had already boycotted the Women’s Worlds in March.
