WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Secretary of State Antony Blinken will meet with his Israeli and Emirati counterparts on Wednesday to discuss progress on agreements to normalize relations between the Hebrew state and Arab countries as well as regional security, a the US State Department announced on Saturday.
Antony Blinken will meet with Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid and UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah Bin Zayed in separate bilateral meetings and in a trilateral setting.
“They will discuss the progress made since the signing of the Abrahamic Accords last year, future possibilities for collaboration and bilateral issues, including regional security and stability,” the State Department said in a statement.
Antony Blinken pledged last month to encourage more Arab countries to normalize their relations with Israel in an online meeting with his Israeli and Arab counterparts.
The United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and then Morocco normalized their diplomatic ties with Israel last year under historic agreements concluded under the aegis of the United States.
