United States: Biden’s team criticizes sudden unilateral cut of Pentagon briefings – News

Speaking to reporters, Biden’s transition team leader, Yohannes Abraham, said he was “concerned to learn” of a “sudden end” to “already limited cooperation in this matter”.

Outgoing President, Republican Donald Trump, still does not recognize the Democrat’s victory in the November 3 presidential elections, even after the Electoral College confirmed Biden’s victory with 306 major voters.

US Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller announced today in a statement that the Pentagon and Biden’s transition team “mutually agreed” to take a “holiday break” at meetings with military officials.

However, this mutual agreement was denied by Abraham, who added that “failure to work together” could lead to “consequences far beyond” Joe Biden’s tenure, scheduled for January 20, 2021.

This last ‘hiccup’ in the transition process from the Trump administration to the Biden executive comes after a huge computer attack on US infrastructure, namely the power distribution network and nuclear weapons, potentially originating in Russia, is known.

Donald Trump, who is still the acting head of state, has not yet commented on the IT attack confirmed by the Department of Defense, nor has he responded to comments from political figures and companies specializing in cybersecurity, who say it is Moscow that is behind this attack.

“There is no time to lose,” warned Abraham, as this attack represents a “major concern” and under Biden, these attacks would have “substantial cost” consequences.
