At 77, the absolute queen of country music Dolly Parton has lost none of her aura, her latest album topping the charts in the United States. Released on November 17, the opus “Rockstar”, the singer’s 49th solo studio album, slipped to first place in the country rankings and those dedicated to rock and alternative music in “Billboard” magazine.

With original songs and covers of rock classics, “Rockstar” also landed directly at third place on the Billboard 200 ranking which covers all musical genres, behind rapper Drake and pop star Taylor Swift. This is Dolly Parton’s best performance on this specific ranking, according to the specialized site.

Duets with Sting, Joan Jett and Debbie Harry

The country star was inspired by his 2022 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the American pantheon of rock and popular music. At the time, Dolly Parton explained that she had initially refused the honor, not considering herself a rocker.

During the ceremony, the singer, dressed in a leather jacket and electric guitar encrusted with crystals in her hand, however announced her intention to make a rock album. “Rockstar” contains 30 tracks, some of which were recorded with stars like Sting, Stevie Nicks, Joan Jett and Debbie Harry.
