Five people, including an off-duty police officer, were shot dead in Raleigh, North Carolina on Thursday, sparking a massive manhunt with a partial city blockade that resulted in the arrest of a suspect, authorities said.
At least two other people, including a police officer, were injured and taken to hospital, Raleigh Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin said at a news conference. “We need to do more. We need to stop this senseless violence in America. We need to fight gun violence.”he said, giving little information about the shooting, which took place shortly after 5pm (2100 GMT).
About three hours after the incident, the police managed to surround the suspect and then arrest him. According to a local television station affiliated with ABC News, the suspect is a white teenager with a gun.
