A new strain of the coronavirus worries the American authorities. Detected in New York, this variant is believed to be responsible for 12% of new contaminations.
Since November 2020, a new variant of coronavirus has been observed in New York, United States. Researchers at Columbia University and the Caltech Institute in California have studied it.
“The variant would be close to that said from South Africa, and this is what worries, because the South African variant would be more resistant to vaccines“, explained the journalist of France Televisions Agnès Vahramian, citing the researchers’ results.
AT New York, this new variant would be responsible for 12% of new contaminations. Local authorities have indicated that they are monitoring the health situation there. They urged New Yorkers to be cautious.
