Monday, February 27, an explosive device was discovered in the suitcase of a man who was about to board a plane in Pennsylvania (United States).
Mark Muffley was scheduled to fly to Orlando, Florida on Monday, February 27. But, instead of boarding the plane, this American was summoned to the security office at Lehigh Valley International Airport in Pennsylvania. The police arrested him after discovering an explosive device in his suitcase.
In a press release published on Wednesday March 2, the American transport security agency (TSA) clarified that “the device was detected during a routine check of checked baggage.”
An explosive in powder form
“The suitcase set off an alarm when it entered the baggage screening device,” leading the officer on duty that day to open it to inspect its contents.
There he found a circular-shaped device, hidden in the lining of the suitcase. The complaint filed by the FBI, published by the Axios site, highlights the presence of an explosive in powder form, which could correspond to a substance used in fireworks.
A can of butane, a gas used mainly as fuel, was also in the luggage, as well as a lighter and a pipe containing residues of white powder.
