In a short press release the club writes that Ronaldo cannot be part of the squad for Saturday’s away match against Chelsea.
The local newspaper Manchester Evening News he can also say that Ronaldo will not be able to train with the rest of the first team for the rest of the week and that he will train alone at the club’s training ground while his teammates travel to London to play an important match.
No reason has been given why he was disqualified from the Chelsea meeting, but it is obvious that the reason is the star’s behavior on Wednesday night.
It is not the first time
89 minutes had been played when Ronaldo went into the locker room and left Old Trafford, apparently frustrated at not being replaced. Coach Erik ten Hag said the following when asked about the Portuguese’s behavior:
– Today we celebrate this result (2-0). Obviously we are thinking about Saturday and another great match. We have to prepare very well and we will think about the rest tomorrow.
Ten Hag was a lot coarser this summer. Then Ronaldo and several other players left a training match against Rayo Vallecano at half-time.
– I do not accept it in any way. This is unacceptable. I’ll tell him. We are a team, and then you stay until the end of the match, the United manager told Dutchman Viaplay.
Much anxiety
Ronaldo has had a turbulent spell at United since returning to the club in August last year. He scored many goals for the club in the first half of the season but was also accused of creating a bad atmosphere in the locker room.
There has been strong speculation this summer that Ronaldo would want to leave United, but there has never been any information on negotiations with other clubs. The 37-year-old started two league and four Europa League games with United this fall. Two goals for the Portuguese.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Ronaldo was due to meet Ten Hag when he arrived at United’s training ground in Carrington, southwest of Manchester on Thursday.
